]]> Sun Oct 28 2007 SkandaGiri Moonlight trek http://neosgallery.fotopic.net/c1319530.html Skandagiri is a mountain in Chikkaballapur ( 70 km from bangalore), also known as Kalavaarahalli betta. The mountain is 1760m above sea level and has beautiful formation of clouds. 5 of us went out to check it on a week day ( thanks to US independence day holiday). Night trek was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed the whole trek. Here I have a few pictures. enjoy. ]]> Tue Jul 3 2007 Gokarna-Honnavara Beach Trek http://neosgallery.fotopic.net/c1300529.html To do something different ( as usual); myself and 7 mates set for a beach trek along the gokarna to honnavara costline. It was a fantastic experience with partly sunny climate which made climbing the hills that intercepted beaches easy. Worth a try! For a small intro the 7 mates with our usual odd names are as below: Kaddi praveena (myself) hudibaba gouthama rowdy ramesha cool pavana silent suneela mysore santhosh simple prithvi Here is the beaches we trekked in sequence: Gokarna beach(~500m) Kudle beach ( ~500m) Om beach (1km probably) Halfmoon beach (<500 m) paradise beach (<300m but superb!) belekana village aghanashini river Kumta beach (7km stretch) Dhareshwari betta As usual we had many of ourselves as amateur photographers taking photos whenever we see smthing that fits the frame well. I could relate it to our Nandi Betta in Bangalore. The place had fantastic weather when we had been there. With colleagues Kishor and Rakesh We enjoyed the whole day being wet in the rain and with mist all around. To avoid risking my digital camera in the rain, i managed to take only a few photos from my cell phone Nokia 3230. I dont appreciate the quality of the photos, however they are the only memories of this place for now. Worth the risk! With some time and planning me, and other 11 friends of mine set out to do a railroad trek on the green route. A famous place among trekkers, this one was one of the nice and cool trek of this year. With rain all through the day we trekked on the rail and had a spinechilling experience of being stuck in the middle of a bridge when a train arrived!. Lucky we survived! With vegetable and non-veg items for the bbq and delcious indian delicacies, some jokes, some talk,some walk, some tv and some play, the day was just perfect. For the envious the menu was as below : Barbecued vegetables, Chicken (Indian spicy), Salad, Naan, Panner butter masala, Baingan ka bartha (arshad special), Rice, Rasam, Wine, whisky, Chips with dip, Tea, Icecream. Ideas are enough for us to start working on it. Quickly we found some log of wood, got some tools, made the cricket bats (thx to praveen), customised wickets, collated people (including swedes) and started playing cricket on a nice sunday afternoon. Both teams consisted of 6 players each, we played 2 matches with 8 overs per team, result was a draw 1-1. The players are listed as below: Team A: Guru Praveen Mayakar Kristoffer Johansson Jessica Rathna Shastry Arshad Team B: Praveen CM Shyam Hemanth Sakol Stefan Lang Mitesh Modi All in all, we had nice fun teaching ,learning and playing cricket!
